Organic Tea and Lemon Farm
Chiang Mai, THAILAND

About Us

Doi Inthanon Tea Farm is located about two hours outside of Chiang Mai city in Mae Win subdistrict at an elevation of 1,500 above sea level with a backdrop of the imposing "Pha Ngaem" cliffs, just below the peak of Doi Inthanon, the highest point in the country. Thanks to the relatively cold climate, we are able to produce great organic tea and lemon with sustainability at heart for twenty plus years.

Products and Services

We produce and sell a range of products from tea and lemon. Occasionally, guests are welcomed for a visit and maybe even a stay at the farm. Besides the tea rows and lemon groves, the Khunwang area is known for its seasonal picturesque Wild Himalayan Cherry Blossom. Feel free to check our Facebook page for any relevant updates. Links are at the bottom of this page.

Teas

At Doi Inthanon Tea Farm, we grow two varieties of tea (Camellia Sinensis). At the right time, we hand pick the best part from these trees, through using a combination of ancient hand techniques and artisanal tools, we turn the young buds and leaves into magnificent loose leaf Chinese-styled tea like Oolong and Green Tea.

Lemons

We primarily grow a variety of Eureka lemon suitable for the climate of the area where there is plenty of rain in the rainy season, in summer it can get rather hot outdoors, and winter sees a single digit in centigrade at its lowest. Its peel is superbly fragrant. The citrus variety is somewhat less tart than the local market lime but still sour enough to be used in Thai cuisine.

Cherry Blossom

From the end of the year through January, during the coldest time, the wild himalayan cherry blossom (Prunus cerasoides), what the locals like to call "Sakura" or "Phya Sua Krong", turns the hills and certain sections of the road in Khunwang village into heavenly pink color, making it the most popular time of the year to visit the area. Once bloomed, the flower usually lasts at most two weeks but not all trees blossom at the same time. So there is a chance that some trees are early or late bloomers.

Our Cafe

During the winter, we sometime welcome tourists to our on-the-farm cafe where visitors can enjoy great atmosphere and stroll in the opened section of the farm. Do check beforehand that we are open if you plan to visit.

Our Farm Stay

At the end of rainy season til before summer hits, we sometime provide a place for guests to stay overnight on the farm. Do check in advance that we are open for business if you would like to spend the night.
